In an effort to provide the citizens of Pitt County with a quality law enforcement experience in the Sheriff’s Office, there are three major priorities that will guide my decisions as I manage the day to day operations of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.
INTEGRITY - COMMUNITY - COMMITMENT
Integrity
Employment and training polices with transparency, fairness, and accountability combined with sound fiscal responsibility.
Increasing the level of protection and service through originality and efficiency.
Implementing new policies while simultaneously maintaining policies and procedures in accordance with state and national law enforcement standards.
Commitment
Recruiting, retaining, and promoting good men and women who have excellent skills, training and insight to help make Pitt County a safer place to live.
Engaging in programs through grants and other means, to reduce victimization while improving the quality of life for our citizens and those who come to visit. This offsets the tax burden to our citizens.
Prioritizing services, resources, and staffing to meet the needs of our community.
Work together with our Community partners to eliminate community problems by developing and sharing the intelligence we receive to address the issues.
Community
Building the level of trust to the citizens that we serve. Being more accessible and accountable to the citizens. Being responsive to their concerns and needs.
Networking with business owners and neighborhoods to continuously support a safer and stronger community.
Disseminating news releases that would give current and recent crimes in the areas with ways to avoid them and ways that the citizens can become more engaged when their area is affected.
Ongoing support and program enhancement of programs that have been put in place to aid the citizens of the county such as: elderly checks, juvenile programs, the pastoral program and the use of volunteers.
DEPUTIES & DETENTION OFFICERS
Community Policing working with community organizations, our schools to educate and coordinate services.
Include the use of bodycams to protect our deputies and the citizens they serve.
Promoting deputies as warranted for excelling in their roles based on their performance & experience.
The demographics of our community is important to support our continued diversity in the Office. I pledge to seek out the most qualified officers while being reflective of the inclusive community in Pitt County.
As a responsibility of the duties of Sheriff, maintaining the safety for those on pretrial release is important. Pitt County Detention Center has a stellar reputation for housing people who have been arrested and are awaiting trial; people who have been convicted of a misdemeanor with an active sentence of 6 months or less; and federal inmates. I am committed to maintaining this reputation through upholding the training regimen of detention officers, ensuring an environment that protects them, the inmates, and protects the citizens of Pitt County.
